Fraserburgh aka the Broch have been auditioning this week and we've had plenty of eager would-be rockers there. (And a big thank-you to the 6th Year Rocka Crew for all their hard work in organising and making up the audition routine.
We start rehearsals at the end of the month. February seems a long way off but will arrive all too soon.
Rock the Broch !!!!!
Alan S (Fraserburgh Academy, Scotland)
As part of the st. columba's rock eisteddfod team this, i just wanted to express how very proud i am of each and every single girl who took part in this year's performance (including the backstage girls). We all worked so hard throughout the year and put on an amazing show last friday night. Even though we didn't win, we definitely achieved what we set out to do, and more. We took on a controversial topic and gave a voice to women who have no rights - that in itself is an unbelievable accomplishment.
I am so proud to have had the opportunity to dance with all of you. It will be a long time before anyone forgets what we did on that stage.
SIMPLY THE BEST !!
Aimee xx (St Columba's College, Victoria, Australia)

St Columba's, you sure know how to WOW the audience. Congratualations
Hope u win nationals !!
I have been a parent of a rock ed participant for a few years now. I saw my oldest daughter compete and win on both a state and national level for St. Columba's performance of "cabaret australia" and i sat and watched my younger daughter dance her body, heart and soul out in St. Columba's 2008 performance of "women's rites" last week. What we witness every time St. Columba's takes the stage is entertainment at its best. The talented team of teachers, dancers and parents aim to use the medium of dance and drama to showcase thought-provoking issues that make a significant impact. The professionalism and quality are unsurpassed.
I am so very proud of my daughter, her friends, her teachers and her school for with dignity and dedication you have raised the bench mark yet again. You are all winners - congratulations!!
Premier division lived up to its name and congrats to all the teams.
Special mention to the phenomenal St Columbas' team - hope you get a wildcard into the nationals ! You moved me, and your girls are a cut above! Congrats, girls - you are a credit to your families and teachers.
Congrats to everyone in the Melbourne rock ed - you all did great !
Congrats to fairhill in coming first !
Great work, St. columba's - completely blew my mind away ! From the moment you started and ended i was on the edge of my seat wanting more and more. Never seen so much professionalism from school girls, both dancers and backstage group.
Hope you guys win nationals ! Can't wait to see what theme you have in year 2010 !
Congrats to all schools again - you were all great!
Hey all !
Congratulations to the St Columbas girls. You were amazing, absolutely breathtaking. Second place, so what? Just remember the feeling you had when you got off that stage, how happy you were with what you had just done. It looked amazing and you deserve all the credit you get.
You girls provided all those women that don't have a voice the chance to be heard, and that is clearly something to be proud of. I know nothing that anyone says will change how you feel right now, but just remember YOU'RE SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
I would just like to thank all of the people that helped to make the rock eisteddfod challenge possible - it was a great experience !

It has been such an amazing experience dancing with all of you girls throughout this whole year.
I am so proud to be a part of the rock ed team of stc. It's the best feeling in the world when you get on stage and dance your heart out, not only for your team but also for yourself and that makes me so amazed and grateful to have danced with you all because every single one of you are such courageous and beautiful beings.
Their theme was absolutely fantastic, sending out a message to all about how important woman are in the society.
Well done, st columba's - you did so well
GREAT WORK, FAIRHILLS! It really was an unreal year. We put all our effort in to it and it paid off.
ST COLUMBA'S - well done! Your show was incredible.
Keep up the good work, everyone !
I'll miss it next year ...
I am so proud to be an ex-St Columba's girl after watching the 'Women's Rites' rock eisteddfod - the girls danced their hearts out and it was obvious how much work had gone into the performance. Linda contiues to come up with such amazing and ORIGINAL ways of communicating important messages and she is a true genius.
Congratulations to everyone involved - you do what you do with so much class and everyone is so proud of you.
Monique (ex St Columba's)
To all the girls and the whole team - we are so proud of you all. To the performers especially, you girls are real "troupers".
We may have been 2nd on the night but you are always winners in our minds and hearts. Hold your heads high and don't forget our school holds the record as 4 times NATIONAL WINNERS. No one else can say THAT! That only happens through the total COMMITTMENT/DEDICATION & PROFESSIONALISM that all you girls display ... that's what makes you SIMPLY THE BEST!!!
Jenny (St Columba's)
St Columba's you rocked!! That was an amazing performance !
It was fantastic and I can’t wait to see what you come up with next.
Love you girls! You all looked amazing. LET'S GO, GIRLS!
ps Great work, Fairhills
FAIRHILLS HIGH were AWESOME! The best on the night and the results showed it!
Congrats to their choreographers - they made the show so interesting with the different styles they had throughout the show.
And the sets ... AMAZING! Fairhills = number 1
Fairhills Fantastic. Brunswick the Best!
We may be rival schools but I can't get the Glitch soundtrack out of my head and I still got the image of the amazing contemporary dance moves.
Brunswick - so you think you can dance ? Yeah ! :)
St Columba's, wow! You danced with such strength and passion, you just blew me away.
I cannot believe that you could do something like that but you did it so well that i am definitely coming to see you next time you are there.
Also loved the scissors - they looked fabulous - and Linda is an absolute genius to make something like that.
You girls were great!
There are simply no words to describe St Columba's performance on Friday night. You truly are amazing.
The choreographer has a brain like no other in this world. Her ideas and ways to make a message heard are phenomenal. I seriously don't know what to say other than; you are the best.
Old Rocka Fan (St Columba's)
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Premier Finals in Melbourne last week... what a fantastic competition!
Just wanted to say how very proud I am of all the girls involved in the Women's Rites performance by St Columba's! Every single girl danced their hearts out... every single minute we spent rehearsing in the freezing cold gym was worth it to witness that performance! I can't wait for you girls to see it on television, you will be so proud of yourselves! Truly a night to remember! Now you can relax and enjoy your weekend sleep-ins!
To the other schools: keep up the fantastic work!! To the girls at St Columba's: you're simply the best!! ROCK ON!
Joel (St Columba's)
Go st columba's!
Look at all these messages to them!! If they don't get into nationals (and win) ...
U girls are amazing.
Well done to all the teams on a great final Rock Ed on Friday night !
A HUGE congratulations to Fairhills High School for their win! Well deserved - you guys took my breath away even though I had seen your performances before.
I was especially proud of all our year 7s and 8s - I can't believe how well you all handled yourselves on stage and showed such maturity !
Can't wait for next year ...
Ms. Grunberg (Fairhills High School, Knoxfield, Australia)
All the schools performed well, but St Columba's - what an amazing performance.
You had me glued to my seat from beginning to end. You portrayed the message of women's rights so tastefully, and in such a way not to offend. It was such a dramatic performance, and when you said stop, you really meant it - stop the hurting.
I felt the pain. Unbelievable, heartfelt performance - hope you get a chance to be a wild card and win the Nationals - you deserve it !
All the best - Samantha (Audience member, Australia)
W.O.W....CAN ANYONE SAY "ST COLUMBA'S ROCKED!" again ?
Again they produce the BEST quality dancers and Rock Eds ever! YOU truly deserve everything you got and MORE!!!!!
Congratulations! Can't wait to see what's next!!! Truly an ORIGINAL and INTERESTING performance!

GO, FAIRHILLS - GO!
Ros (Fairhills High School, Knoxfield, Australia)
Well done St.Columba's - your performance blew us away.
You were the voice for those who can't speak.
ST..COL....COLUMBA !!! You girls ROCKED !!! The dancers, the crew...UNBELIEVABLE !! So great to be able to portray such great and inspirational messages time and time again.
The dancing is flawless, the backstage crew are 100% professional, no wonder you get best backstage every time !!!
The audience don't get to see your bump in before the show, but that is almost a show in itself. You guys work like clockwork and everyone stops in their tracks to watch you! Fantastic Girls !!!
St columba's were awesome - i loved it.
Their stage crew was awesome too.
OMG - their stage manager (danni) ... she was the bomb. The way she directed things really led to a fantastic performance [as did the dancers :)]
I wish she was my stage manager...
St Columba's, we were absolutely stunning. As soon as our first song came on, the audience was glued to the stage. A stunning performance and i'm so proud of everyone.
Miss Linda, you are amazing. The most phenomenal choreographer ever - you really are simply the best.
Catherine, Joel and Caterina, you guys are the best and we couldn't have done it without you!
Back stage, you were incredible.
Congratulations, girls :)
ps MELTON, we love you guys!
Go St Columba's - you rocked that performance! You made people cry and feel the emotion of your issue, and you gave those women suffering around the world a voice. CONGRATULATIONS!
Having attended both the Melbourne & Sydney Premier finals for 8 years I would like to congratulate all the schools and students involved for the fantastic shows they keep producing.
Glen (Sydney, Australia)
"Womens Rites" was the voice for those who don't have one themselves. The way St Columba's college portrayed such a dark issue was absolutely phenomenal !
Their choreographer is to be commended for her orginality each and every time they take to the stage.
Their costumes were mindblowing, unique and simply amazing.
Each and every single girl danced with passion and strength, and i'm sure you were admired by other schools. You had every single person on the edge of their seat.
Here's hoping that you receive a wildcard for nationals and show everyone how it's done!
REMEMBER TO WATCH ROVE THIS SUNDAY NIGHT 8:30 CHANNEL 10!
Hamish and Andy (Australia)
Your Editor asks ... why especially watch ROVE this coming Sunday, Hamish and Andy ? Is it the appearance by Mr Rudd that's got you excited ? Or Richard E Grant ? Or Lovers Electric ? Do tell :)
St columba's, you blew everyone away.
Miss Linda, what would the girls do without you?
Love you, stc!
Awesome job, Fairhills - a deserving win.
St Columba's were crazy good and I loved your show 'Womans Rites' - nice work !!!!!

I had all these expectations of your school and was not disappointed ... AMAZING
Keep up the fantastic work, girls!
St Columba's, you guys were absolutely AMAZING! Your intense dramatic piece 'womens rites' brought tears to my eyes. YOU spoke out on behalf of those women who don't get that freedom of speech. Congratulations, St Columba's

WOW!!!! ST COLUMBA'S, YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! AS ALWAYS YOU HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT GRIPING MY JUMPER IN SUCH SUSPENSE. YOU ARE TRULY AMAZING
MS LINDA, YOU ARE THE MOST PHENOMENAL CHOREOGRAPHER I HAVE EVER COME ACROSS IN MY ENTIRE LIFE! YOU HAVE TOUCHED SO MANY PEOPLES LIVES AND CHANGED THEM FOR THE BETTER
Girls, i am so proud of all of you !! We went out there and we gave it everything we got. We poured our soul and our heart into that performance and we captured every single person in that stadium.
Ms Linda is a gem ... a golden girl who keeps coming up with choreograhy that captures the hearts and minds of others.
Our costumes were amazing ... our movements were amazing ... we were amazing. Don't drop ur heads, girls - we did our best :)
Love you all - Jen (St Columba's)
ps MELTON - U WERE THE NICEST SKOOL BY FAR
Hi all ! I'm a former rocker who misses rock-ed very very much!
I absolutely loved the 2008 Premier Division. The performances were outstanding and so entertaining! I congratulate all dancers, teachers and backstage crew for such a great effort!
Well done Fairhills for taking home first prize.
St Columba's College, I believe your performance was incredible and your dancers gave it their EVERYTHING!
Your issue 'Women's rights' was a touchy one at that, however the way you portrayed your story was completely appropriate as well as fantastic! The ideas were amazing and the standard of the performance was out of this world!
Watching your girls up on that stage just made me miss the competition because they made it look like they were having the best time of their lives. Even though you didn't take home first prize, I think that was the best rock eisteddford performance in the history of rock eisteddfords and I congratulate you girls on your outstanding effort.
Lorraine (Former Rocka)
WELL DONE ST COLUMBA'S -YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!!
Hey guys !
Congrats to all the winners all over the country !

St. Columba's - wow... so proud of us all and i am honoured to have danced with such a professional and talented group of girls. We are 'simply the best' and i love you.
I also love melton - congratulations - you rocked !
Bethany (St Columba's)
Fairhills, you were amazing ! You're always so diffrent every year - how you transform yourself is a credit to you.
Innovative and fabulous, this was an epic take on our future if our actions toward global warming don't change.
This performance had power, colour and emotion, and the lead girl was tremendous.
This show is a credit to your school, its students and production team. Congratulations.
I attended the Melbourne Premier Finals on friday (I travelled from Sydney) and I have to say I was completely blown away by St.Columba's. Their performance moved me to tears.
This school has tackled some serious themes in the past as well but they always do it with dignity. They are the trendsetters, and obviously have inspired other schools.
Congratulations to the winners (Fairhills) but St Columba's, it really WAS your night.
Alex (Old Rocker)
Congrats to Fairhills. You guys are awesome !!
Can't wait for the telly specials!
WE LOVE MISS LINDA!
YOU KILL IT.
ST COLUMBA'S WAS SO AMAZING! CONGRATULATIONS !!!! :)
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME !
Alex xx (St Columba's College, Australia)
St Columba's, you have left me speechless. Congratulations, girls
This years Rock-Ed Challenge was fantastic! So entertaining, and the level of professionalism was outstanding!
Special thanks to st columba's college for delivering that amazing performance of 'womens rights'. The story, set, dancing and backstage were fantastic!! I'm so thrilled that i got to see that performance live! When i was watching st columba's rock that stage i began getting teary, it was almost like everything else was blocked out for that 8 minutes because the only thing i could focus on was that mind-blowing performance!
I thank you very much for being the voice of others without those rights. In doing so, that's winning itself!
I can not wait to see what you bring to the stage next time you perform! I thank you, amazing girls!
Great Work everyone, every school was wonderful !
But ... my biggest congratulations goes towards St. Columba's college, Miss Linda is one amazing and talented woman, every time she creates such a fabulous high standard, breathtaking performance. I can't believe the amount of professionalism within her work year after year. The girls portraying Woman Rites was their best rock eisteddfod by far - congratulations, St. Columba's, you were definitely the winners in my eyes.
Hannah (Huge fan of St Columba's)
OMG ... St Columba's was sooooooo awesome !!!!!!!! That was definitely the best one i've seen ... sooooo fantastic !!!
Hey Guys !
I think all of the schools did a wonderful job. (Congrats To Fairhills - You did a fantastical job x)
Red Cliffs Secondary College - we tried our best and maybe next Rock Eisteddfod we will do better
I LOVE ALL OF MY BABIES AT REDDY HIGH XOXO

Congratz to all the schools in the Melbourne rock challenge !
Well done to fairhills (you were awesome) and we just loved st columba's (your costumes were outstanding).
Red Cliffs really did try our hardest but unfortunately we didn't get a placing :(
Oh well - better luck next year ! (Well ... we only do rocka every 2nd year so ...)
Lots of love to all the schools - you were awesome !!!:)
Paige (Red Cliffs Secondary College, Victoria, Australia)
Fairhills were extremely hot and St Columba's lavish and political but Brunswick was pure, awesome style and flawless movement - took my breath away even tho I went to support Pascoe Vale Girls' ... BRUNSWICK, YOU WON ME !
Hi everyone !
Melbourne Rock Ed Grand Final 2008 was amazing! What a great experience! We hope you all had as much fun as we did and hopefully we'll see you again next year.
Congratulations on getting through :)
Love - Hannah and Jordy xxx (Rosebud Secondary College, Victoria, Australia)
To the St. Columba's team. Your performance on Friday night was stunning. It was the best that St. Columba's has done since "Mediogre". No-one could ask for more. You danced superbly and the backstage crew executed the moves with precision. From the comments on this site, you not only blew the audience away but moved them to tears, which is a pretty amazing feat. We are proud of you and privileged to work with such a talented group of girls. To us you are winners. You are "simply the best".
Love you all - Miss Linda and Mrs M.
St Columba's are "Simply the Best!" Dancers, backstage crew, Linda and all the rest of the team - you did an amazing job.
You sent tingles down my spine as I watched your performance. You always use the Rock Ed forum as a way to highlight enormously important social issues, and for that reason alone, you stand out from all the others. That, and the amazing PERFORMANCES !!!! You rock, girls !!!
St Columba's was fantastic. I loved it. They were fantastic.
Congratuations St. Columba's!! You wowed us in 1990 with 'Vivid Changes', you put Michael Jackson to shame in 1994 and enthralled us all in 1996 with the 'X-Files Conspiracy'. You did it again in 2003 and 2006 and your performance this year was marvellous, monumental, magnificent!
Girls, keep working and take those gifts out into the world when you leave school :)
Dan (St Columba's Supporter)
Congratulations to all of the schools performing in the Melbourne Finals!
I wasn't fortunate to attend the Open Division night, but I am sure that it was amazing. I was, however, at the Premier night, because I was performing in Overnewton College's RAW division entry.
Every single school performing in the finals definitely deserved to be there, and they showed that to everyone on Friday night.
All of the schools were winners that night for making it into the finals.
I can't wait until next year's Heats and - hopefully - Finals!
Steph (Overnewton College)
Never have i seen a performance quite like the one delivered by St Columba's College ... the brilliance of protraying images of extreme situations and the injustices to women just blew me away.
We attend the rock eisteddfod every year (and have for the past 6 years) but i have never been so blown away, with tears in my eyes. The cry for help, at the dramatic conclusion on their performance really touched mine, and my friends' hearts.
We really felt the emotions put into the words and you said it loud and clear, "STOP !". Stop all the violence, human trafficing, domestic violence, honour killing and the others mentioned in this rock eisteddfod.
All those girls and teacher must be extremely happy with what was produced.
We were all wowed by the dancing, the special effects with the shadows (that was just amazing - how did they do that?!) and the set moving. it was just unbelieveable. Such a professional standard of performance.
This message of womans rights was beautifully done and i was very pleased as a member of the audience.
All the rock eisteddfods were amazing - a great night to remember.
I look forward to seeing more of st columba's performances in the future ... congrats to all who participated.
Beth (audience member on the 12th)
This year's rock ed was amazing.
Brunswick, Fairhills and Pasco Vale Girls were all brilliant but the performance by St Columba's really blew me away.
It was so emotional and you could tell how hard they had worked. Everything about their performance was flawless and you could tell they have inspired many, just like they clearly have before.
Well done, girls.
Well done to fairhills for winning, but St Columba's performance was just something out of this world. 100% original and the determination on that stage was mindblowing. Well done, it was just amazing. I was brought to tears.
Laura (St Columba's)
St Columba's girls, it was an honour watching your routine. The second you started i was immediately drawn into the story.
The way you portrayed your message was outstanding and i thank you so very much for speaking out for the women without a voice.
You deserve to be commended for your achievements! Well done, girls.
St Columba's, well done.
Looks like you are the 'angels' of the eisteddfod. Well done for coming up with new and original choreography, themes and costumes every time! Loves it !
St Columba's womens rights was absolutely amazing and outstanding. From the start till the end my eyes were fixed on their performance and truly did stand out. I had goosebumps the whole time ...
Congratulations to those girls and their amazing teacher as they were absolute standouts!
Congratulations, St Columbas and Melton Secondary. You owned that stage and performed like angels
St Columbas are awesome :) Best performers out! :D
Girls are legends! Should defs make it to nationals
Wow, fairhills ! Guys totally did look just like 'dark angels' up on stage....
St Columba's, you were phenomenal! Words cannot describe how empowering your performance was. You should be proud to have presented a rock eisteddfod performance which brought to light the many injustices facing women today. I'm getting shivers just thinking about it now! Congratulations - you are real winners for tackling an issue which is facing women all across the world today.
Can't wait to see what you do next!
WOMANS RIGHTS !!! AMAZING !!! TOUCHED HEARTS OF ALL !!! THANK YOU, ST COLUMBA'S !!!
I am a parent of a 13 year old girl who insisted we watched the performances at Rock Eisteddfod.
As I patiently anticipated the performance of the well-respected St Columba's College of Essendon, I was blown away when they hit the stage ... in fact, I was brought to tears. My daughter saw me crying and began sobbing as well !
What an amazing performance it was. Congratulations to the girls and their choreographer.
WOW - THIS YEAR'S ROCK EISTEDDFOD WAS CLEARLY ONE TO REMEMBER !! Every school delivered with an outstanding performance !
Well done fairhills for taking home 1st place, but my favourite part of the night was the 'womans rights' routine by st columbas college! You portrayed your message so clearly and with such passion and inspiration to others. When you began dancing on that stage my jaw dropped and i was basically speechless ! The level of dance was incredible and you made the rocka experience one to never forget!
I can't wait to see what you girls have in store for us next year! THANK YOU
Girls, we were amazing on friday !
For those 8 minutes we danced our socks off, doing it not just for the competition but for ourselves
St Columba's - simply the best
We love ROCKA !
St Columba's College
St. Columba's College, you were outstanding. An incredible theme delivered with breathtaking precision and skill.
I was truly and positively floored. You spoke to every woman and - hopefully - man in that auditorium on Friday night.
Congratulations on what you achieved; Linda Henderson and her team are an inspiration.
CONGRATULATIONS TO ST COLUMBAS BACKSTAGE !
You guys are fantastic - yay for backstage !
Can't wait for 2010 to see wat linda will think of next.
Congradulations to every school that took part in the Rock Eisteddfodd Challenge Melbourne Grand Final.
As i watched the performances, nothing touched me as deeply as the Woman's Rite's Performance by St Columba's College. From beginning to end i was blown away.
For those eight minutes they were the voice of thousands of women. The issue they tackled with such passion and dedication brought me to tears ... they made an incredible statement.
Congratulations to all the students and teachers of St Columba's College - you truly touched me!
St Columba's performance was absolutely fantastic. The amount of work that went into it must have been enormous because the dancing was so precise and all of the costumes and set looked incredible. At no point did I lose interest, because it incorporated so many different characters and ideas. It was a truly inspiring performance about a theme that is so relevant to today's society. Well done, girls!
FAIRHILLS !!!! You were amazing !!! A pure awe-inspiring production ... you must have a fabulous team. It was breathtaking from the opening of that browny set to the epic slow motion conclusion.
What an amazing achievement placing first in the premier division.
The competition was incredible. Both Brunswick and St Columba's also had fantastic shows. Incredible costumes, mind-blowing sets and a musical score to rival any epic film.
Definitely a year to remember. One of rock eisteddfod's finest moments.
Mary (Old Rocker :)
A big shout out to Tintern School! You guys gave an absolutely amazing performance that was so different yet equally as good as the rest!
Congratulations to St Columba's, Brunswick and of course Fairhills ! You're a bunch of very talented kids !
To all of the Tintern leaders, you made this your own. You created the dances, the concept, music, costumes, sets, lighting ... you did it all !
Thanks and good luck to everyone for 2009 !
Whitey (Tintern School "Clothes Maketh the Man")
ST COLUMBAS = WOW
Hey all !
Great show last night ! Congratulations to all schools, in particular Fairhills for winning 1st prize. I really enjoyed Brunswick's performace also. Their set was fantastic !
St Columba's blew me away. Their concept, dancing and passion brought the whole competition to another level. They were just an inspiration and a thrill to watch. Congratulations, girls!
ps Melton we love you x
To St Columba's - I just wanted to let you know that i was never a fan of Shania Twain, and even though you only used her song, the way you danced to it was phenomenal.
On my lunch break today i went out and bought the best of Shania Twain cd. Thank you girls for that amazing performance!
YOU GO, GIRLS. So very proud of you all
Congratulations to all schools last night, you were all amazing and performed a great show !
Well done to fairhills for winning - your performance was great !
Well done to st columba's college presenting womans rights ! While watching your performance i got goose bumps - you girls were inspiring and touched the hearts of all.
Eyes were filled with tears in that auditorium ... you delivered and we are so proud of you!
ST COLUMBA'S COLLEGE touched the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of watching their eisteddfod. Their performance was an inspiring tribute to women of the world, living in dire poverty, still suffering from domestic violence, slave trafficking and honour killings.
St columba's girls, you are amazing
Honestly, we all danced to the best of our abilities and it was such an emotional and amazing experience ... you girls made this year legendary
Congrats, fairhills !
St Columba's - WOW !
Time and time again you never cease to amaze me with your skill ... you left me speechless. Congratulations !
LET'S GO, GIRLS ! Truly brilliant!
Never has a school competed every time with so much pride and determination. Every aspect of the St Columba’s College "Women's Rites" performance showed great skill and dedication. It was a breathtaking conveyance of a message which is one of the world’s greatest issues today.
Girls, when we were up there we showed great pride, we expressed our message and (most important of all) we did it for ourselves.
We are so privileged to have such a genius like Linda Henderson. Without her we wouldn’t have been on that stage, dancing 'til our limbs dropped off.
Congratulations to Fairhills !
LET’S GO, GIRLS!
Last night's rock eisteddfod grand final was clearly one to be remembered. The schools this year chose some really interesting themes.
The judges' comments for 'womens rites' blew us all away - we couldn't have been any happier with ourselves ... practically in tears.
I've realized how truly original we are with everything we do ... we always choose strong themes and we know all there is to know about delivering a fantastic rock eisteddfod.
Rock Eisteddfod means so much to our school. It's more than a walk in a park ... it's something we've been doing for 20 years now.
Well done to all the other schools ! You're all such nice people and created some really good acts (and Fairhills did a good job - there is no denying that).
St Columba's, we were awesome. Privilege to dance with all of you cool cats !
LET'S GO, GIRLS !
Amanda (St. Columba's College)
ST. COLUMBA'S COLLEGE ... WOW ! Best performance !
Congrats to the first-placers, Fairhill.
The moment the music started i was excited to see you girls shine and wow us. We were so drawn to you; you captivated our attention instantly and shouted out a message that needs to be heard - a cry for equality and respect to woman. You did this magnificently !
I was so pleased with your performance - such a professional level of dancing. We loved every minute of it !
St Columbas are the best :)
Everyone was amazing !
I loved brunswick and st. columba's - they sure put a lot of effort into their amazing performance and deserve a wildcard
CONGRATZ TO FAIRHILLS !!! You guys were so fabulous - so deserved to win.

Lotsa Love - Beda Boys (Kilbreda College and St Bede's College, Mentone, Australia)
The St Columba's girls were amazing last night. It was impossible for any member of the audience to take their eyes off that stage.
Their theme which was so tastefully executed was truly inspiring to all women across the world. They should be highly commended on their work and proud of their achievements !
Congratulations to everyone last night - it was awesome !
Congratulations to Fairhills for winning - you guys looked like ANGELS up on that stage !
Good work, St Columba's ... we rocked full stop
LET'S GO, GIRLS

"A Glimmer of Hope" ... what an outstanding performance. Drew you in from the beginning until the massive climax towards the end. Very impressed.
Congratulations for your efforts and looking forward to viewing another WOW performance you bring to the plate next year. Congrats, guys !
Tahlia (Fairhills High School) xx
Huge congratulations to Redcliffs Secondary College. Your production this year ("A Glimmer Of Hope") was flawless; costumes, acting, drama, lighting and the overall team vibe was absolutely brilliant.

From the moment St. Columba's College stepped on stage they drew me in. Their performance was breathtaking, and the skill and dedication shown from that group of girls was truly inspiring ... I don't think one girl on that stage was out of time.
It's obvious that this performance and their past perfomnces has inspired many other schools - congratulations !
I guess i will be seeing you on broadway ! FANTASTIC GIRLS !
Good to see Terrigal High School's Rock Eisteddfod Team getting some coverage in the online pages of the "CENTRAL COAST SUN WEEKLY" newspaper !
St Columbas are awesome, no doubt about it !
Congratulations to all the schools who competed in this year's Rock Eisteddfod Challenge and especially those schools that made it all the way to the Grand Final.
Hope everyone had as much fun at the Grand Final as we did !!!
Giuls (Parade College, Melbourne, Australia)
I would like to thank each and every school that competed at the Open Grand Finals on September 11th for all of the fantastic support and sportsmanship towards Lara Secondary College. Being our first year competing in the Rock Eisteddford Challenge we all tended to hang around our "FRIDA" team (even if we didn't really know them :) as they were from our school so it was a familiarity thing, but the support and KINDNESS that students from the other schools showed us - especially Parade College - was really touching and made us come out of our shells quite a lot. THANK YOU !
Jess (Lara Secondary College)
Congrats to all in open finals last night in melbourne, especially Mordialloc - YOU GUYS ROCKED !!!!
Hope everybody had as good a day as I did !
Sarah (Lara Secondary College, Victoria, Australia)
Bendigo Senior Secondary College's Rock Eisteddfod Team make it onto the online pages of the "BENDIGO ADVERTISER" newspaper but maybe they wish it had been for other reasons ?! Good luck to them, to the performer now on crutches, and to his two replacements :)
Hey guys !
Big shout of congrats goes out to Singleton and MLC on well-deserved wins.
The Prem final was interesting ... very proud of the Northmead kids - they did great and one couldn't have asked for more.
LOVED Terrigal too! Amazing.
Also poor Smiths Hill (and I had Randwick higher too !)
Just to end a question going round: nope, NHS didn't lose points for the set going down. (We were told that by judges.) We didn't lose any points in any way so that should quench that rumour.
Good luck to any schools still competing and congrats to all who have already danced their hearts out !
Have now been to my first rocka and was amazed at the great performances.Paul D
Great to see that the Bomaderry High School's Rock Eisteddfod Team get coverage in the online pages of the "SOUTH COAST REGISTER" newspaper, and St Joseph's Catholic High School's Rock Eisteddfod Team get coverage in the online pages of the "ILLAWARA MERCURY" newspaper.
Congratulations to the place-getters in Premier !
St. Joey's - finally you guys were rewarded ! I am happy for you all.
Regarding Northmead not placing - yeah, we are bummed, but we're proud too - we did the best we could have possibly done and I am grateful that we were given the 4 awards we got as well ! As long as our show entertained - I'm happy !
LOVE YOU, ROCK EISTEDDFOD !
Raye (Northmead High School, New South Wales, Australia)

Mel (Berwick Secondary College, Victoria, Australia)
Congrats to all the Sydney Rocka Premier Division winners !
PLC, Randwick, Terrigal all thoroughly deserved their placings - very entertaining and innovative.
Northmead, you guys were awesome too and I was surprised you didn't get a place. I saw a set fall during your performance - does that sort of thing happening lead to the loss of any points ?
Go Chifley !
John (Chifley College, New South Wales, Australia)
YAY PYMBLE !!!!!!! WOAH - WE WIN !!!! HOW AMAZING !!!!!
Just a shout-out to all the other schools there on finals day ! You guys were awesome !

Welcome to the 25 new BTEC Dance students who have opted for Dance today. Many of you will be new to Rocka ... you will have the time of your life.
Mrs Boothman (Leader of Dance, Richard Rose Central Academy, Carlisle, UK)
Congratulations to all of Peterhead who got through auditions. You all danced wonderfully and the talent is so high this year. Looking forward to seeing you all on Monday and starting to put together a performance that will rock Aberdeen and Grimsby (and maybe Sheffield too ?!? Fingers crossed ...)
Miss M (Peterhead Academy, Scotland)
Anyone who loves prop weapons and armour would love the "Arms and Armour From the Movies" free exhibition currently on (till 16th November) at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds (Yorkshire, UK). Subtitled "The Wonderful World of Weta", it really is a stunning showcase for those involved at New Zealand firm "Weta" in the creation of - in particular - arms and armour used in the "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" films in particular.
The websites are here for the exhibition and here for the Royal Armouries Museum.
Congratulations to the St. Mary's College all-boys Rock Eistedfod Team for getting coverage of their recent success into the online pages of the "THE CHRONICLE" newspaper, and to the North Bundaberg State High School Rock Eisteddfod Team for getting coverage in the online pages of the "NEWSMAIL" newspaper !
John, editing as the Yorkshire rain falls outside :)
Rock Eisteddfod was awesome ! Everyone was great =]
CONGRATULATIONS to North Bundy and West MAC for rocking on stage, as well as all the other schools that participated !! :)
Well done, everyone ! Thanks for the great time...
Editha (North Bundaberg State High School, Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia)
"WOW", boys ! I was there and you were inspirational, amazing, entertaining and totally awesome.
I was so proud of not only MY son but each and every one of you. You did the school proud with your impeccable behaviour.
Toowoomba does it 2 years in a row ... we may not have much water here but whatever is in it is definitely worth drinking.
You are all AMAZING and TALENTED young men. Congratulations - you deserved to be crowned grand champions.
"ST MARYS ROCKS"
